“Raw techno slabs maneuvered via analog machines, plastic rhythms, gritty melodic videogame themes and bass dribbling, 2ndMOUSE (aka Chris Steven McKeown) pulls all the left-field danceable bits into byte sized chunks on Communique. Tangible downtempo beats strewn across funky vocal snippets and experimental ragga tinkering, there’s an array of genre shifts from abstract electronics, glitch, bass, acid, 8-bit, brokenbeat and nostalgic themes at every cross street. A talented musician not afraid to dip into upbeat movement-based electro akin to an early Global Goon (or Brothomstates—just visit “Walking in my Shoes,” for instance) venture though time and intergalactic space.”
